Students sharing their technical knowledge

Every year ‘Go for Africa’ organizes innovative internships for students with a technical background. Roel Sengers and Reno Verhagen, both students at Koning Willem 1 College in the Netherlands, said yes to this once-in-a-lifetime experience and the unique chance to share their knowledge with the help of Moba.

The students will travel to West Africa by car, co-sponsored by Moba, and then carry out their internship in Gambia. Gambia faces a high unemployment and a lack of labor market opportunities. Roel and Reno will share their knowledge with students and teachers at African schools. By bringing up-to-date technical know-how to young people, ‘Go for Africa’ offers additional opportunities for the future of these young people. By helping these students Moba helps foster students’ passion for technology, both in the Netherlands and Africa.

In The Netherlands we have so many more opportunities. This project gives us the chance to share our knowledge and contribute to the development of Africa.

The exchange of knowledge and cultures is of great value for everyone involved. Reno explains: “In The Netherlands we have so many more opportunities. This project gives us the chance to share our knowledge and contribute to the development of Africa.”

Adventure

Roel and Reno will be ten weeks away from home. For their preparations the students had to set up their own team, prepare their internship, organize sponsoring activities, prepare a car and travel 7,000 kilometres in three weeks to Gambia. The car they used for travelling with will be donated to African schools. Other materials will also be brought along (sent by container or brought by car), which are also to be donated to African schools and will be installed together with African students and teachers.
