Experiencias alrededor del globo
Ballygarvey Eggs has been a Moba customer since 1981. The egg producer from Northern Ireland chose Moba robotics in 2014, then three years later the company ordered the MR12, Moba’s Case Packer, which has the unique ability to process two different products at the same time. Mr. Mark Davison, the owner of Ballygarvey Eggs, praises his Moba equipment, in particular the MR12.
Our focus has always been on supplying major retail and food service customers throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland with fresh, high-quality eggs produced in high welfare systems.
For Ballygarvey Eggs, it all started back in the early 1960s. Mr. Samuel Davison sourced 36 laying hens to supply his father’s shop with fresh eggs. Those eggs were a big hit and, by 1972, customer demand had pushed the flock size up to 1,700 hens. Due to the increasing demand, Mr. Samuel decided to leave his day job as a bread server in Belfast’s Ormo bakery and focus on selling eggs. Since then, the business has experienced continuous growth and is now owned by Samuel’s son Mark.
Search for top-quality equipment
“Our focus has always been on supplying major retail and food service customers throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland with fresh, high-quality eggs produced in high welfare systems”, Mr. Mark Davison explains his company’s mission. To achieve this mission, Ballygarvey Eggs searched for leading-edge equipment for egg production and packing. That worldwide search led to Moba.
In 1981 our first Moba machine—the Moba 2000—was installed. Then in 1994, we upgraded to the new Omnia series. Moba went above and beyond to make sure the grading machine worked perfectly.
Mr. Davison explains his reason for choosing Moba: “Before every investment, I personally investigate the options available and Moba has always come out ahead of the competition. In 1981 our first Moba machine—the Moba 2000—was installed. Then in 1994, we upgraded to the new Omnia series. Moba went above and beyond to make sure the grading machine worked perfectly. This attention to detail meant that when the PX series was launched, we had no concern about buying it for our new packing center at Deerfin.” So almost 20 years later in 2014, the Omnia PX350 grader, the MR10 Case Packer, and MR30 Case-display-combi were installed at the Deerfin facility. That marked the beginning of a new era in robotics for Ballygarvey.
Choice for robotics
In 2017 Ballygarvey Eggs needed new equipment for its head office. They chose the Omnia PX530 with three MR12s connected to six packing lanes. Six months later, an additional MR12 was connected to two more packing lanes. “It is remarkable to see that, 23 years later, we received the same attention to detail that Moba is famous for.”
The MR12 performs consistently well with the complete range of egg packs and trays. Furthermore, the operator can perform a quick changeover in the same time as it takes to change the packing lane. This machine has met all my requirements.
When asked why Ballygarvey choose Moba Robotics, Mr. Davison answered: “The MR12 has all the advantages of the MR10 and also makes good use of the packing lane capacity on all pack/case types. Manual case packing limits the packing lane speed and consequently the grader speed, but the MR12 solves this. We have increased throughput by 50% without increasing the number of personnel.” Mr. Davison especially appreciates the flexibility and capacity of the equipment: “The MR12 performs consistently well with the complete range of egg packs and trays. Furthermore, the operator can perform a quick changeover in the same time as it takes to change the packing lane. This machine has met all my requirements.”
