In May 2020, Mr. Edwin Bolwerk started his adventure as Moba’s new Chief Executive Officer. He is the successor of Mr. Michiel Peters, who left Moba after six successful years. With lots of positive energy, new ideas and years of experience in the manufacturing industry, Mr. Bolwerk joins the Moba-family.
Four years ago, our new CEO got acquainted with Moba. "At the time, Mr. Michiel Peters, invited me for a tour at the headquarters in Barneveld. And I was quite impressed with Moba. The craftsmanship, dedication and engagement of the employees and high-tech equipment; it is all very impressive. Moba handles every aspect of manufacturing; from producing molds to maintaining the equipment at the customers’ plant. An entire industry under one roof. This makes Moba a unique company within the manufacturing industry."
I am happy to have joined the Moba-team. The future that lies ahead for Moba is promising, and the ability to lead this next chapter is very exciting.
At home in the manufacturing industry
Mr. Bolwerk has an educational background in commercial and mechanical engineering and worked in the manufacturing industry for many years. Throughout his career, he held several leadership positions. In recent years, he was CEO of Nedcon, a global-operating company that designs, manufactures and installs warehouse storage solutions. Nedcon is part of Voestalpine from Austria. Before that, he was 25 years active at Vanderlande, a company in material handling systems, where he held several positions from Engineer to Managing Director.
And now Mr. Bolwerk adds Moba to his CV. "I am happy to have joined the Moba-team. The future that lies ahead for Moba is promising, and the ability to lead this next chapter is very exciting. I am focused on accelerating the innovation and execution that our customers need from us. Their success will continue to drive us. I will be using my background to focus on effort, prioritize activities and help attract talent. I look forward to meeting employees, customers and other stakeholders and to working with them to achieve further success in the years to come. And I believe that, though I have not worked in the food industry before, that this can be an advantage. As an outsider, I can address the issues that insiders no longer see. So I am looking forward to stepping into the egg industry, the world of Moba."
For an international player in the market, it is important to understand all customers. This means not only listening to the words they say, but to truly understand what they mean in the cultural context.
Understanding the customer
Moba is a global player in the egg industry with offices around the world, an aspect of the company that appeals to him. In his previous work, he worked several years abroad in Asia and the US: "I have lived in the US for 5 years and was active in Asia for another 5 years. For an international player in the market, it is important to understand all customers. This means not only listening to the words they say, but to truly understand what they mean in the cultural context."
Mr. Bolwerk explains his leadership style: "For me, it is all about teamwork and clear focus. Collaboration is key. You are part of the Moba team. It is just like soccer, not a single person can win or lose a game, it is always the team. And teams are built by creating structure, instilling trust and respect. A mistake can happen, but how you respond to it makes all the difference."
"I believe that my biggest challenge is to make sure that Moba stays on the right course. We need to keep in mind where we want Moba to be in five years. Moba’s future looks promising, but the egg industry is an ever-changing market. Time and time again, we have to ask ourselves: what are the needs of our customers and what can we do to contribute to their success. We have to focus on enforcing innovations and supporting our customers in the best way possible. Moba is an ambitious company and I can’t wait to take the company to the next level together with the worldwide Moba team."
