At Moba we strongly believe in personal contact with our customers. We value their opinion and truly care about them. During first meetings with customers, we try to find ways to break the ice in order to create not just a commercial, but a true relationship with them. We visit their farms and offices and go on business-related trips. However, our trip to the Dakar Rally 2013 in the Oasis of Huacachina in Peru was an unforgettable experience, both for them and for Moba.
The story begins when we contacted each of our customers to ask them if they would like to accompany us to the Dakar Rally 2013, to share a wonderful week together. They all accepted our invitation to come to Peru. On the first day, we met our customers at Lima airport and took them to the hotel. We had a nice dinner together and showed them the agenda for the following days.
Our customers felt like children riding a bicycle for the first time. It was truly amazing.
On the second day, we took our customers to the mini race track of Lima. We had rented the place for the entire morning. Our customers felt like children riding a bicycle for the first time. It was truly amazing. The champion was Mr Mario Cesar Ocampo, general manager of NUTRIAVICOLA in Colombia.
On the third day, we travelled to the Oasis of Huacachina. After dropping off our luggage at the hotel, we rented a couple of buggies and went into the desert to experience driving these buggies on sand. We had a lot of fun. Back at the hotel we shared a magical experience with our customers. The integration of our Colombian customers with our customers from Mexico, Argentina and other countries was truly amazing. We had a great time together gathering around the hotel pool and looking out on the darkness of the desert and the magical sky.
Around 9:00 AM, we saw the first motorcycle racing past our camp site. After that, the rest of the participants, including our two Moba trucks, followed. It was a wonderful experience for all of us.
The next morning, we left the hotel around 4:00 AM and started our trip to the middle of the desert to secure the best place we could find to see the participants of the Dakar Rally. Our local guides and drivers found a great spot at what they believed to be the best location. Around 9:00 AM, we saw the first motorcycle racing past our camp site. After that, the rest of the participants, including our two Moba trucks, followed. It was a wonderful experience for all of us.
The rest of the day was simply fantastic. Our guides prepared a nice BBQ in the middle of the desert and we drank a couple of beers with our customers. On our way back to the hotel, around 6:00 PM, we drove exactly between the ocean and the desert and had the opportunity to see the most wonderful sunset. It was something many of us had never experienced before in our lives.
After a couple of days in the Oasis of Huacachina, we returned to Lima, where we stayed for the last evening before going back home. Our Colombian customers invited the group to dinner in a nice local restaurant where we had our last meal together.
Every time we meet one of our customers, we still talk about this once-in-a-lifetime trip.
