Many years ago Mr. Kian Lie started his one-man business selling eggs from door to door. When the economic crisis of 1998 hit Indonesia, Lie had to start from scratch again. He didn't give up and with much enthusiasm he kept his egg business moving. By showing commitment, determination and spirit, Lie rebuilt his company with great success and little by little he saw how his company grew. In 2015 his son joined the company, after graduating from Nanyang Technological University and working for a couple of years in Singapore. One year later, father and son officially named their business PT Sumber Pangan Nusantara Indonesia.
The Omnia has significantly improved the quality of the eggs. Our customers' expectations are met and we can even deliver eggs to cities further away without worrying about cracked eggs and short shelf life.
To meet his customers' quality expectations and to keep up with the increasingly higher demands, Lie decided to purchase the Moba Omnia FT330 (capacity of 120,000 eggs/hour). With this egg grading machine, the company was ready to face all challenges. Lie: "The Omnia has significantly improved the quality of the eggs. Our customers' expectations are met and we can even deliver eggs to cities further away without worrying about cracked eggs and short shelf life. Now we have become one of the major players in the North Sumatra egg industry."
With the experience and help of his son, the family business kept on growing, serving various big cities in Indonesia such as Aceh, Riau, Batam, Lubuk Linggau, Jakarta, Tangerang, Bekasi, Bandung and Garut. To further improve the egg quality and hygiene in the packing station, they started to use plastic trays to collect eggs from farms and manually wash them. To be more efficient in tray washing, they bought Moba’s CTW6500 tray washing machine.
But then Covid-19 reared its ugly head and many countries like Indonesia and Malaysia were on lockdown, with no way of traveling across borders. Lie: "Luckily, the installation of the tray washer was pretty straightforward and with remote help from an experienced Moba engineer, we could install the machine ourselves. Operating the new tray washer wasn’t difficult, thanks to the comprehensive and easy-to-read manual. Having the tray washer up and running has saved us 80% of the washing time compared to manual cleaning using the water jet. Our trays are cleaner, dryer and the equipment is easy to maintain. We are very happy with the Moba equipment and the service provided."
