Ultra Filtration (UF)

Ultra Filtration (UF) is an egg white concentration process used during egg white powder production (before drying).

 

Egg whites are approximately 11% DM (Dry Matter), which could be concentrated to 22%, reducing volumes by half. For example: if you produce 3,000 l/h egg whites, you can extract 1,500 l/h of water through UF (Ultra Filtration) and then 1,500 liters/h of egg whites can be sent to the dryer. This procedure therefore reduces the amount of energy required to produce egg powder product.

 

UF offers the following advantages:

  • Increase of the drying capacity;
  • Cost energy savings during the drying process.
